According to Variety, Disney + will develop a new Star Wars series. The project will be led by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) and will have a female character as the protagonist. In addition, Deadline pointed out that the production should have elements of martial arts and will be set in a different timeline of the universe of the franchise.
According to rumors, Headland will assume the role of showrunner and scriptwriter of the attraction, still without a defined title, but it has not been revealed whether she will also direct some episodes. It is worth pointing out that the information has not yet been confirmed by the streaming service.
Appreciation of the Star Wars universe
In addition to this announcement, the pre-production of the 3rd season of The Mandalorian was recently reported, even before the premiere of its 2nd year – scheduled for October 2020. In this context, another novelty was the announcement of a documentary series of this attraction, which will address behind the scenes.
Disney + will also bring 2 more titles in the franchise, already confirmed by the platform. One of them will be the series focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi, long awaited by fans. The other project will be a prelude to the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, starring Diego Luna’s character Cassian Andor.
