Created by Canadian Jeff Lemire and released by Vertigo, whose first edition was released under the roof of DC Comics in 2009, the Sweet Tooth series is adapted to Netflix for production by Robert Downey Jr.’s production company Team Downey. Team Downey and Warner Bros. Jim Mickle, one of the creators of the Hap and Leonard series, will be the producer and screenwriter of the series, and Beth Schwartz, the producer of the Arrow series.
Jim Mickle, who wrote the script with Jeff Lemire, the creator of the comic, is also the director of the series.
Sweet Tooth Passes in a Post-Apocalyptic World
Sweet Tooth tells about the discovery of the outside world, which was destroyed after a violent flood, by leaving a house of a half-human half-deer named Gus. In a comic where a post-apocalyptic universe is established, Gus joins a group of people and hybrids like himself, trying to understand what happened and learn more about their origins.
The drawings of the comic, which was published as 40 issues between 2009-2013, were prepared by its creator, Jeff Lemire.
In the series, there will also be young names such as Nonso Anozie, starring in the series Game of Thrones, Adeel Akhtar, who is known for his productions such as Utopia and Les Misérables, and Christian Convery, who played the role in the 2018 Beautiful Boy movie, as well as Will Forte. Also, master actor James Brolin will be on the show with his voice as a narrator.
