Bitcoin News: The largest over-the-counter Bitcoin whale in history, ignoring the recent price drop, seems to keep accumulating BTC. A whale who already has tens of thousands of Bitcoins has added about 3,720 Bitcoins to its wallet, according to the transaction revealed by Blockchain crawler service Blockchain.com.
Transfer fees for the transaction amounted to 0.005 Bitcoin, or about $189.6, depending on the price of the cryptocurrency at the time of this writing.
Holds 6-thousandths of all Bitcoins
The address of the Bitcoin whale currently ranks fourth among the richest Bitcoin addresses in existence. The address currently holds 112,593.6 Bitcoins, or about 0.6% of all BTC in circulation.
The address is one of only four addresses holding more than 100,000 BTC.
This address also stands out as the richest Bitcoin address not associated with a cryptocurrency exchange. The other three addresses holding more Bitcoin belong to the crypto exchanges Binance, Bitfinex, and Huobi, respectively.
He likes to save, he does not sell
A look at the whale’s trading history shows that the major investor continues to save as the price of the flagship cryptocurrency has plummeted. Since mid-May, when the Bitcoin price dropped from around $47,000 to $30,000, the whale has bought around 13,667 BTC and not sold.
The Bitcoin whale has been in constant accumulation mode since the bull run began. Since December 2020, when Bitcoin first broke above $20,000, the whale has received about 38,186 BTC.
