LG, which closed the smartphone section, has promised a 3-year Android update for the G series, V series, Velvet and Wing models.

LG recently announced that it will close the smartphone division with its statement. However, the company has also stated that it will continue to provide software updates to certain phones in certain regions. Now the company has announced which phones will be eligible for future Android updates and how many updates they will receive.

According to a statement made by LG, the South Korean company is committed to Android update support for three years for its Premium smartphones. The phones that will receive the update include all premium LG phones released in 2019 or later. These phones include G series, V series, Velvet and Wing. For example; LG Velvet was released with the Android 10 operating version. According to the statement, the smartphone will receive support for updates up to Android 13.

The company is making its commitment to update to some of its more affordable phones as well as premium smartphones. These phones include certain 2020 smartphones such as the LG Stylo and K series. However, these phones will only receive two operating system updates, unlike flagship phones. The company also notes that future updates will depend on Google’s deployment plan, as well as other factors such as device performance and compatibility.

Finally, it should be noted that LG will continue to produce phones until the second quarter of 2021, and users who buy these phones will be able to benefit from the new updates.
