TikTok, which is only a five-year-old application, has managed to surpass popular old applications in the number of downloads. The goal is to beat Facebook.
TikTok, or Douyin as it is known in China, soon became one of the most popular apps in the world. The platform, which is actively used by more than 1 billion people in the App Store and Google Play Store, has become the world’s most downloaded application after Facebook, according to a recent report. The number of TikTok downloads has exceeded the 3 billion threshold.
According to the latest data from research firm SensorTower, the popular TikTok app has been downloaded three billion times from the App Store and Google Play Store.
TikTok was recorded as the second application to have this many downloads, after Facebook. TikTok also managed to enter the list of elite applications with over $ 2.5 billion spending. This list also includes apps like Tinder, Netflix, YouTube, and Tencent Video.
Despite being banned in many countries such as India and Pakistan, TikTok managed to reach this record number of downloads. The app was also banned in China, but TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has created an identical app called Douyin for the Chinese market, and these results are also included in the SensorTower data.
SensorTower also reports that rival apps like Kwai and Moj are trying to capture the market where TikTok is influential. Analysts believe that for TikTok to continue dominating the market, its founding company, ByteDance, must continue to innovate.
SensorTower also states that TikTok needs to further develop its ecosystem so that more people create exclusive content on the platform and force fans to log into TikTok regularly.
