Trump praised scientists who discovered the AIDS vaccine. US President Donald Trump incorrectly said that scientists and doctors have created a vaccine against AIDS.
He said this at a press conference on police reform, boasting of great progress in finding a coronavirus vaccine.
What exactly did he say?
Trump told reporters that U.S. scientists and doctors are working on a coronavirus vaccine and that they are progressing very fast. He added that these are some of the best, smartest and most ingenious people, and added that they had created other vaccines like the one for AIDS in the past.
There is no vaccine for AIDS. Trump may have figured it out because he was talking about drugs and pills for people with AIDS shortly after.
But the topic of the AIDS vaccine has gone viral on Twitter anyway.
“They are the best, the smartest, the most ingenious people anywhere. And they came up with an AIDS vaccine. As you know, there are a lot of things, different components… but the cure for AIDS… AIDS was a death sentence and now people live with it with pills. Unbelievable, ”he said.
