Twitter continues its plans with the acquisition of the podcast service Breaker.Twitter continues to acquire other companies in order to make its platform stronger.
Twitter has now purchased a podcast service called Breaker, which has iOS and Android apps. What makes Breaker different is that it brings an understanding of social community to the traditional approach.
Breaker’s approach enabled podcast listeners to like and comment on episodes, and encourage and support community engagement. This helped to distinguish the service from other podcast apps that work in a similar way to RSS readers.
The bad news is for Breaker users. Unfortunately, the service will retract its apps and services on January 15th. Additionally, depending on whether you are a listener or creator using iOS or Android, users will be encouraged to switch to other services. Users will also be given the opportunity to export their service subscription with an OPML file.
Twitter bought the video chat and screen sharing application Squad last month.
