After the announcement of the possibility of LG’s withdrawal from the phone industry, now LG has been hit by Apple on the screen. According to a supply chain report, LG Display has stopped making LCD-based iPhone displays.

LG once rivaled Samsung as the main supplier of iPhone screens. But things changed when Apple started transitioning to OLED with the iPhone X. LG was late to recognize the industry trend from LCD to OLED and could not keep up with Apple’s transition. After this incident, Apple and Samsung had a tighter relationship and LG was out of the way.

LG started to produce Apple’s OLED orders, albeit late in this process. However, since the screens produced by LG were problematic, they were not preferred by Apple. LG later shifted to LCD and began to produce LCD screens for the iPhone series. However, when the iPhone left the LCD panel, ties with LG were broken.

After the announcement of the possibility of LG’s withdrawal from the phone industry, now LG has been hit by Apple on the screen. According to a supply chain report, LG Display has stopped making LCD-based iPhone displays.

The factory that produces LCD screens is reportedly redesigned to make display panels for cars. Note that LG is still the market leader in car screens nine inches or larger.

It is expected that LG will turn to the IoT or automobile industry instead of the mobile sector in the future. Let’s see how 2021 will pass for the South Korean technology giant? We’ll wait and seeā€¦
