Vitalik Buterin News: In May, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin donated meme tokens with a current value of over billions, which were sent to the India Covid Relief Fund and several other needs. Having a talk with Lex Fridman, Vitalik Buterin explained how he made these donations.
Vitalik Buterin donated these crypto coins to various places with the aim of using them for a good cause last May, when he saw that the crypto currencies such as Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogelon Mars (ELON), Akita Inu (AKITA), which were sent to him, reached billions of dollars. This move was highly praised by the market.
These meme tokens, which were sent to Buterin, were in a cold wallet on Buterin’s laptop in Canada. Buterin, who could not go to Canada due to pandemic restrictions, bought a new laptop and entered his wallet with his private key.
Vitalik Buterin, who started his transactions with meme tokens, expressed the stress he experienced during this process. He also said that the tokens in his hand are worth $ 7 billion on paper, but he is not sure how much of them he can sell because there is not enough liquidity in the market. He then donated with tokens, which he sold in small quantities.
Speaking about Dogecoin, Vitalik Buterin stated that he does not have any problems with the Dogecoin community, in fact, he bought $25,000 DOGE in 2016 and recently sold them for $4.3 million and donated it to GiveDirectly. Vitalik Buterin said it was one of the best investments I’ve made for Dogecoin.
Buterin also spoke about Bitcoin. Saying that there is much more than money, Buterin explained that the issue that he was most impressed with in Bitcoin was decentralization. He said that despite the disappearance of its creator, since it is an open and permissionless system, the disappearance of Bitcoin impressed him a lot.
Vitalik Buterin also expressed his thoughts that without cryptocurrencies it will be difficult to act as you want and terrible things can happen.
