Vivo continues to give its own operating systems such as OriginOS to its devices. However, some are not supplied to phones sold outside of China.
Vivo was one of the many Chinese companies that entered the smartphone market since 2010. Vivo gave the good news for OriginOS in November 2020 and started running a public beta program. However, this was limited to China only. Vivo has active Funtouch OS in the global market and in the long term OriginOS will be limited to China.
Based on a question from one of the users, an authorized Funtouch OS team from Vivo India responded with this comment. The Indian official says HinOriginOS is indeed for Vivo devices, but it was launched in China. Moreover, he says the company has no plans to bring it to other regions including India for now. This was already evident when Vivo announced its Funtouch OS 11 (based on Android 11) program for India. According to the program, it is releasing updates to the devices and Vivo V20 SE has this update.
Vivo, which has been the focus of criticism on this issue recently, is actually not alone. Vivo isn’t the first company to do this, either. In fact, companies like OnePlus have their own versions for China (Hydrogen OS) and global markets (Oxygen OS). Essentially, there are no extreme differences between Funtouch OS and OriginOS. It makes the interface more stylish for flagship phones and offers a few minor advantages. If Vivo’s attitude changes in the future, we will inform you.
