Volkswagen has contracted with Microsoft to develop cloud-based autonomous driving software.As you know, VW Group, which owns brands such as Audi and Porsche, has been working on various technologies for future self-driving cars and existing vehicles.
Noting that it has developed these technologies independently, Volkswagen announced that they will now work with Microsoft for these technologies.
Expressing that they agreed with Microsoft to create an Azure-based Automated Driving Platform, the automotive giant plans to use this software in its cars from 2022.
In addition, the company, which announced some of its plans for the future, states that it has invested approximately 27 billion Euros in digital operations by 2025. With this investment, the share of software developed within the company is expected to increase from 10 percent to 60 percent.
At the same time, the company also emphasizes that a large amount of data must be controlled to develop autonomous driving technology.
