With the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 model introduced in 2019, an important accompaniment in the camera development of smart phones has been surpassed. A 108-megapixel rear camera was used for the first time in a smartphone with the Mi Note 10. Not so much, just two years later, 200-megapixel smartphones started to be talked about. At this point, Xiaomi plans to announce a 200-megapixel camera phone.

Xiaomi is preparing a phone with 200 Megapixel camera

108 megapixel camera sensors are developed by Samsung and have started to be included in many models of Xiaomi. It has even reached a standard point in the brand’s mid-segment phones. Finally, a 108-megapixel rear camera was used in the affordable Note 10 Pro.

In the latest developments from China, it was reported that Xiaomi has started to actively test a sensor with 200MP ultra-wide angle and optical image stabilization. While the other features of the sensor remain a mystery for now, it is estimated that the sensor was developed in partnership with Samsung – Xiaomi.

So is there a need for smartphones with a 200 megapixel camera? We do not think, but manufacturers use it as a good marketing tool. For example, many users who are unaware of the developments on the camera side think that the 48-megapixel camera on the Redmi Note 10 is better than the 12-megapixel camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

If we need to take the situation from a different point; According to reports, Samsung will pull out of the competition on the megapixel side with 2022 and focus on more advanced sensors with lower resolution. A similar situation has actually happened recently on the Xiaomi front. Xiaomi, which used 108 megapixel cameras in previous flagship phones, used 50 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GN2 image sensor with 1 / 1.12 ‚ÄĚsensor size on Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11 Pro. Moreover, as soon as this phone, the Mi 11 Ultra, was introduced, DxOMark became the new owner of the summit in camera reviews.
