Xiaomi News: When it comes to smartphone sales, Xiaomi has managed to surpass Apple, which has been behind for a long time. Here is the latest situation in the competition…
Xiaomi surpassed technology giant Apple in the second quarter of this year to become the second largest smartphone company in the world. According to the report published by Canalys Research, the Chinese company’s smartphone shipments increased by 83%.
With this result, Xiaomi has risen to second place for the first time when it comes to smartphone sales. Those who follow smartphone sales closely know that the first two lines have been dominated by Samsung and Apple for years.
Huawei moved up to second place, beating Apple for a period before being subject to US sanctions. But this did not last long and the company faced sanctions from the US Government. Huawei, however, took a big hit in the smartphone market and its market share was melting day by day. Looking at the latest published data, it seems that Xiaomi is the brand that best fills the gap arising from Huawei.
According to Canalys Research, Samsung remains the leading smartphone brand globally, with a 19 percent share in the second quarter of this year. Xiaomi managed to increase its market share to 17 percent in the second quarter of 2021. Apple is in third place with a 14 percent market share. OPPO and Vivo rank fourth and fifth, each with 10 percent market share.
According to the report published by Canalys, Mi 11 series shipments have increased by 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa and more than 50% in Western Europe. Another striking point in the report is that the average selling price of Xiaomi is about 40% and 75% cheaper than Samsung and Apple.
