On Wednesday (10), Xiaomi announced its newest entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 9, in Spain. The device has a low cost and is located between the entry and intermediate segments, but, still, it brings decent performance and should not leave even more experienced users at hand, at least when it comes to running basic apps.
The Redmi 9 features an LCD FHD + (2340 x 1080 pixels) screen, with 6.53 inches, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 400 nits brightness and a small water drop-shaped notch, which houses the front camera.
The device is equipped with MediaTek’s Helio G80 chip, and has variants with 3 GB or 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, in addition to 32 GB or 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 type storage.
In the set of rear cameras, the smartphone has four sensors, which will offer good photography resources for basic users. They are the main sensor, with 13 MP, and the ultra wide sensor, with 8 MP (both with f / 2.2 aperture), plus a macro sensor, with 5 MP and f / 2.5 aperture, and the depth sensor, with 2 MP. The front camera has a single 8 MP sensor and f / 2.0 aperture.
One of the outstanding features of the Redmi 9 is its immense 5,020 mAh battery. Even on smartphones with more powerful hardware, this battery can provide autonomy for more than a day, depending on the use. It still supports 18 W fast charging, but only a 10 W charger is included in the box.
The device also has a fingerprint reader, which is located at the rear of the chassis.
