Practically one year after the arrival of version 19.04 “Disco Dingo”, Linux Ubuntu 20.04 LTS “Focal Fossa” became available on Friday (24), with a series of news to users.
In its look, the operating system now has the elements centered on its entry screen. There were also changes in the file explorer, which has gradient colors for some icons, as you can see in the image below:
Another highlight is the inclusion of more features for the dark mode. Users can now enable the feature more simply by opening the settings and accessing the “Appearance” section. The novelty is seen as an option for those who use the machine at night.
The graphical environment was updated to Gnome 3.36. In practice, the animations started to have more fluidity and speed. Whoever uses the platform will also be able to activate the “do not disturb” mode, so as not to receive notifications.
The new edition arrives with Linux Kernel 5.4, with support for partitions in exFat format. In addition, it has a function that prevents applications from having full access to the kernel.
Ubuntu 20.04 can be installed by means of a thumb drive, by “flashing” the system image on the external device. The latest version of the OS is available for download on the official website, accessible at this link.
