The Japanese company New Japan Pro-Wrestling has confirmed through an official statement that Tiger Mask IV, veteran fighter of the company, will miss the next shows due to injury. It should be remembered that NJPW confirmed during a press conference held last night that they will return to their usual activity from June 15, after having suspended their programming for three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement released by NJPW is as follows: “Tiger Mask IV will be absent from upcoming New Japan Pro Wrestling events as he is recovering from colon diverticulitis. We apologize to all fans who were looking forward to seeing Tiger Mask IV. fight and we wish him the best in his recovery. ”
Diverticulitis is a digestive disorder in which small, bulky pockets develop in the walls of the intestine (diverticula). They rarely cause problems, but they can become inflamed or infected, leading to a series of complications that, in the most severe cases, may require surgical interventions. Other figures in the world of pro-wrestling such as Shane McMahon or Brock Lesnar have also suffered from cases of the disease.
As for NJPW, they will hold the New Japan Cup 2020 from June 16 to July 11. The corresponding events will take place in venues without an audience, except for the final, which will be held from the Osaka-Jo Hall, one third of its usual capacity. In addition, DOMINION will be held on July 12 from the same site and with the same conditions as the final show of the New Japan Cup.
