A group of consumers in the USA filed a criminal complaint before the law, claiming that they suffered losses due to price manipulation by these three companies in 2016-2017.
It is constantly stated that in the technology world, especially memory prices are played and that the industry giants direct the market as they wish. In the past, we heard that giants such as Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron were punished. Now a similar case is opened.
Consumer oriented case
In the lawsuit filed by Hagens Berman law firm representing a certain US consumer group, Samsung, Micron and SK Hynix allegedly used their dominance to manipulate DRAM prices.
Allegedly, the companies that bought mobile phones and computer systems in 2016-2017 were harmed and suffered due to the 130 percent increase in prices by manipulating DRAM.
Hagens Berman filed a similar case in 2018, but the case was rejected in late 2020. It is not known what kind of evidence he will present differently in this case, but he may face the same fate. In order for a real compensation to be in question, regulatory agencies need to step in and carry out extensive research.
