A new film telling the story of the rescue in the Thai cave in 2018, is in preparation, with directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin in front.
Vasarhelyi and Chin’s latest project was the documentary “Free Solo”, focused on an extreme mountain climber.
According to information from Deadline, the duo of filmmakers have had approaches by Universal to direct the film about the extraordinary events that took place inside a cave in Thailand.
In July 2018, a children’s soccer team and their coach were trapped in an underground cave thousands of meters below the surface. A rescuer died at the scene and three more were hospitalized before the group was eventually rescued.
The incident also had a strange attempt at intervention by Elon Musk, who said he built a submarine capable of transporting children trapped one by one.
